The role
We are looking for an investment funds lawyer to join the AMX legal team reporting directly to the London-based Head of Legal. We would ideally like the candidate to be based from Cork, but other locations will be considered.
The role will primarily focus on the legal and regulatory aspects of launching and maintaining investment funds under AIFMD and UCITS regimes working closely with the Head of Legal and various AMX teams responsible for the on boarding of new managers and investors including the Client Services, Product, Sales, Compliance, Operational Oversight and Risk teams. This will include legal advice with a particular emphasis on investment documentation and investment vehicles that are appropriate/approved for establishing and developing the AMX business.
The successful candidate will use their knowledge of the various types of investment vehicles available for different categories of institutional investors to help the AMX team select those that are appropriate for our clients and in particular the use of existing offshore investment fund vehicles.
Legal
- Assist Head of Legal with developing and maintaining a robust legal framework for AMX, including both corporate and fund specific issues
- Manage legal on-boarding process for a wide range of third party investment managers and service providers (including market counterparties, administrators, custodian and depositaries).
- Take responsibility for negotiating investment management agreements and other commercial agreements
- Developing and monitoring the production of launch templates to be used in the launch process
- Develop and enhance existing launch procedures
- Assist and advise internal teams on a broad range of product related legal queries
- Establish a strong working relationship with the AMX Compliance team and the WTW Corporate legal team to understand and develop areas for cooperation
Relationships

- Manage the relationship with various law firms
Other
- Assist with know-how management and internal training
- Day to day management of paralegal/trainee support
Requirements
- Irish/English Qualified Solicitor with demonstrable post-qualification investment/funds legal experience, preferably with a leading law firm or a reputable asset management or investment advisory firm
- Extensive investment funds knowledge especially Irish funds, UCITS & AIFMD. Experience of the US market a plus.
- Highly organised, yet flexible, adaptable and a good team player with excellent people skills
- Proven ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks to successfully meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to present to senior management in a clear and confident manner
- Experience with working with regulatory bodies a plus, in particular in the UK, Ireland, western Europe and the US

- Comfortable working closely with colleagues based in other geographical locations, in particular given that the other members of the Legal team are based in London
- Experience in reviewing and negotiating a wide range of fund and constitutional documentation and other investment related agreements
- A good understanding of a wide variety of investment fund vehicles and investment strategies
- Must be commercially-oriented with a proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a team player in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to spot issues in and negotiate improvements to transaction documents
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and maintain effective working relationships across geographic boundaries
- The successful candidate should be comfortable working closely with the business whilst retaining independence
